Below is an upcoming training camp in King Salmon for electrical training. You can contact the Aleut Foundation for applications and more information about the training. This is the second training camp offered by The Aleut Foundation and CH2MHill. This training camp will give you the skills needed to gain employment on the slope with CH2MHill.
The Aleut Foundation in partnership with SAVEC and CH2MHill are now accepting applications for the electrical training camp in King Salmon. The deadline for the completed application is FRIDAY, April 11, 2008.
All applicants need to either fax, mail or drop off their application to The Aleut Foundation office at 703 West Tudor Road, Suite 102 Anchorage, AK 99503. Selected applicants will need to be in King Salmon from May 11-31st, 2008. Travel scholarships are available to eligible Aleut Corporation Shareholders and their descendents.

Higher Education Scholarship FAQs
A lot of students have the same questions about our scholarship program. I am posting some of the most common frequently asked questions. If you have additional questions please feel free to leave a question/comment on this post and I will answer your question(s).
Q: When is the Higher Education Scholarship deadline?
A: July 1st is the deadline for the fall and spring semesters
November 15th is the deadline for spring semester only
All applications must be postmarked by the deadline to be accepted. No late applications will be accepted.
Q: What do I need to do to re-apply for the higher education scholarship?
A: If you received a scholarship for the previous school year you must submit a new application packet. We keep your acceptance letter on file as well as your two letters of recommendation. So you do not need to resend these items unless you change schools then you will need to submit your new acceptance letter in your application packet. All other items are required in your scholarship packet including contacting your CLO.
Q: Do I need to contact the CLO of my community each year that I apply?

ANSEP Internship Program
From time to time I recieve emails about scholarships, internships and training programs offered by other regional organizations, universities and large corporations. I will post them here on this blog for those of you who might be interested. Today I receieved this email about the ANSEP Summer Bridge Program. Community Liaison Officers (CLOs)
On your scholarship application it says to contact your CLO for recommendation and comments. What exactly does that mean?
A CLO is an APICDA representative that works as a liason between community residents and APICDA's HR department. A CLO can assist you with the various programs APICDA offers. They can tell you what job openings APICDA has and help you decide which scholarship to apply for. CLOs also works with the teachers to brainstorm and develop proposals for the school grant that APICDA offers each year.

As a scholarship applicant you need to contact your CLO to verify your eligiblity for the scholarship you are apply for. The CLO will review your application packet to ensure it is complete. Once your applicaiton is complete you or the CLO will mail in your application to HR. The CLO will also send in their recommendation of funding for you.

Summer Internship
The Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center is recruiting for a summer intern. Below is information about the program. If you are interested in this internship visit their website or contact Laura Delgado.
The Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center is a non-profit organization dedicated to the conservation of Alaskan animals. Among our tools of conservation, we incorporate educational programs that inform and teach our many visitors on matters relating to Alaska’s wildlife. For several years we have hosted a summer intern program. This program is a huge success with students passing on learned knowledge to the many multi-cultural visitors that pass through our Center each year.
Our interns endeavor to educate the public while acting as advocates for the animals. Each year we accept between 5 and 10 recent high school graduates or currently enrolled college students into our program depending upon available funding. The interns live at our Center in Portage where they are trained in many facets of animal husbandry and interpretation. These interpretative skills are used to address the nearly 350,000 visitors that roll through our gates each May to September. The interns are paid $800.00 per month as a stipend, they are provided with uniforms, housing and taken on weekly educational field trips throughout the State. In addition, they may earn credit towards their degree through our approved curriculum.
